Jaecoo J8 SHS seven-seat hybrid SUV confirmed for Australia
Australia’s automotive market is preparing for a new seven-seat crossover from Chinese manufacturer Jaecoo: the J8 Super Hybrid System (SHS). This version adds extra passenger capacity thanks to a third row of seats, allowing the vehicle to carry seven occupants at once.
The model has been confirmed for sale in Australia in the third quarter of 2026. Local specifications have not yet been announced, but international data lists total hybrid-system output at 537 hp and maximum torque of 650 Nm.
“Our customers asked for a seven-seat SUV, and we are delighted to have answered that request with the impressive J8 SHS,” said Omoda Jaecoo Australia commercial director Roy Munoz.
Other Jaecoo J8 specifications that are likely to be shared with the Omoda 9 include a 34 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery and a claimed electric range of 145 km on the WLTP cycle. The Jaecoo J8 SHS is expected to match the Omoda 9 for charging performance, with 70 kW DC charging, a 30 to 80% charging time of 35 minutes, and a 30 to 100% charge from a 6.6 kW wallbox taking 5.5 hours.
