The best EVs to buy in 2026: from a sub-EUR 13,000 city car to a 750 km Tesla
From the new Renault Twingo and the Leapmotor T03 to crossovers like Cupra Raval, BYD Atto 2 and the Tesla Model 3 with up to 750 km of range — the best EVs to buy in 2026.
The EV market is still growing, and 2026 looks set to be a turning point for the mass segment. Buyers now have plenty of models that strike a sensible balance between price, technology and range, which makes choosing one noticeably easier. Among the most affordable options the compact city models stand out.
The new-generation Renault Twingo offers up to 263 km of range and starts at around EUR 17,000, while the Leapmotor T03 pushes the entry point below EUR 13,000 and still bundles in decent equipment and practicality.
In the city hatchback segment, the Renault 5 E-Tech catches the eye — a modern reinterpretation of a legend, with up to 410 km of range. For family buyers, a strong pick is the Citroën ë-C3 Aircross, which can seat up to seven people and offers up to 399 km on a single charge.
More powerful, more tech-led solutions are in the crossover segment. Among them are the Cupra Raval, the BYD Atto 2 and the Leapmotor B10 — each offering more than 200 hp and competitive range at a sensible price. The Jaecoo 5 EV and the BYD Sealion 7 also deserve a mention, since they bring rich equipment and specs you would expect from pricier models.
Special attention goes to the Tesla Model 3, which is still one of the benchmarks in its class thanks to up to 750 km of range and a mature ecosystem.
The main trend is clear: EVs are leaving the niche behind and becoming a mainstream choice. With today's prices and technology, the gap with conventional cars is gradually closing — especially among city and family models.
