When practicality meets innovation: the BMW i3 Touring is official
BMW Group CEO Oliver Zipse confirmed the electric BMW i3 Touring (NA1). The wagon shares the i3 sedan's platform, gets iDrive X and arrives in 2027.
BMW Group CEO Oliver Zipse has officially confirmed plans to develop an electric version of the BMW i3 Touring estate, which has received the internal index NA1. The car will be based on the previously unveiled BMW i3 sedan (index NA0).
The BMW i3 Touring estate is built on the same modern platform as the base i3 sedan. The car will be fitted with a high-capacity battery delivering a manufacturer-stated range of around 900 kilometres on the European WLTP test cycle.
The interior of the new BMW i3 Touring will impress with comfort and a high level of technology. The driver and passengers are met by the latest BMW iDrive X infotainment system, which significantly expands the capabilities of the multimedia setup and provides convenient access to a wide range of vehicle control functions via the touchscreen display.
One of the BMW i3 Touring's key advantages is its substantial luggage capacity. Preliminary figures put the usable cargo volume at around 1500 litres, with additional space at the front of the car traditionally used for storing small items and tools.
Sales of the i3 sedan will start in the autumn of 2026, while the launch of the BMW i3 Touring estate is scheduled for the spring-summer period of the following year, 2027.
