Ford’s 2027 electric pickup: $30k LFP truck with RWD/AWD, roomy cabin, frunk and real bed

Ford is readying a new electric pickup for 2027, with production slated for the Louisville plant. CEO Jim Farley said the model will come with rear-wheel drive and an optional all-wheel-drive setup. He also noted it will offer more passenger space than a Toyota RAV4, pairing a front trunk with a proper cargo bed.

The truck is being positioned as quick and easy to handle, featuring a fully digital interior and a large display. Earlier reporting said its performance would be comparable to a Mustang EcoBoost. In terms of size, it hews closer to the compact Maverick than the Ranger and will be offered exclusively with four doors.

It will use LFP batteries and is expected to start at around $30,000. Ford hasn’t shared battery specifics, range figures, or the timing of an official debut, but the emphasis is clearly on affordability.

Taken together—generous passenger space, a real bed, and a frunk—the package points toward everyday usefulness rather than excess. In the new-car market, this electric Ford stands to appeal to buyers looking for a budget-minded, practical alternative to a crossover.
