Cybertruck with a badge: how Tesla's electric pickup ended up on duty in Turkestan
Kazakhstan's State Guard Service deployed Tesla Cybertruck as a mobile command vehicle at the informal Organization of Turkic States summit in Turkestan on May 15, 2026.
Tesla Cybertruck has taken on an unusual role in Kazakhstan. According to Tengrinews, citing the State Guard Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan, mobile complexes based on the Cybertruck were deployed at the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Turkestan, held on May 15, 2026. The theme of the event was symbolically tied to artificial intelligence and digital technologies.
The State Guard Service explained that the vehicle is being used as a command-and-staff machine. Such a complex is designed for managing units, communications and coordinating operations in unprepared areas, as well as at specific locations during major public and political events involving protected persons.
Kazakh media also report that the technology is being used along two tracks: one Cybertruck has been assigned to the State Guard Service for command and coordination, while another has been added to the rapid response reserve of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. A Cybertruck bearing the ministry's emblem had previously been spotted in Almaty.
The explanation for choosing the Cybertruck specifically, as laid out in official statements, comes down to the demands of a mobile complex rather than any promotion of Tesla. What matters for this role is autonomous power supply for equipment, the ability to quickly deploy communications and coordination, a distinctive build and off-road capability on difficult terrain. That said, the claim of «superiority over conventional pickups» is better left to the speakers themselves: no comparative tests of the Cybertruck against traditional special-purpose vehicles are available in the public domain.
