Refreshed Hongqi HS3 PHEV adds lidar, luxe cabin and longer EV range
Premium marque Hongqi has unveiled a refreshed HS3 PHEV crossover in China. The vehicle keeps its footprint (4655 x 1900 x 1668 mm; wheelbase 2770 mm) but adopts a larger grille and an integrated radar-and-lidar unit mounted beneath the license plate, broadening the driver-assistance toolkit. The more prominent front end lends a bolder, more upscale look, while the new sensor suite signals a push toward smarter assistance.
Inside, the updated HS3 PHEV features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.6-inch infotainment display. A new garnet red interior theme joins the lineup. The equipment list now includes massage and memory functions for the driver’s seat, as well as a smart mirror with a dedicated parking mode. These touches elevate everyday comfort and make the cabin feel more premium without overdoing it.
The powertrain pairs a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine rated at 150 hp with a 228-hp electric motor. A new 18.4-kWh battery increases electric-only range from 117 to 125 km. Fast charging is supported, bringing the charge from 30% to 80% in 19 minutes. That range suits urban routines, and the quick 30–80% top-up helps between stops.
The model comes in two versions: the standard variant and a 2 Millionth Edition marking Hongqi’s two-millionth vehicle. In Russia, only gasoline HS3 versions in Comfort and Deluxe trims are available; hybrid deliveries are not planned.
