Spotted in Seville: the Xiaomi SU7 quietly rehearses its move into Europe
A Xiaomi SU7 was spotted testing ADAS in Seville — a sign the Chinese electric sedan may be preparing for its European debut.
A Xiaomi SU7 has been spotted in Seville — an electric sedan not yet officially on sale in Europe, but one that has stirred interest here for a while. The car was seen on 24 May near Santa Justa station: a blue sedan with unusual roof-mounted equipment moving across a car park alongside taxis and ordinary city traffic. This looks less like a one-off import and more like a test of driver-assistance systems.
According to a Spanish source, a technician was at the wheel, monitoring the ADAS at work. There is no visible lidar on the car, so this is probably the pre-facelift SU7 from 2024. The updated version, on sale in China since April, comes with lidar and an 800-volt architecture as standard, even on the base trim.
The Xiaomi SU7 has become one of the most talked-about Chinese EVs of recent years. It quickly built demand in China, and after the update it gathered around 80,000 orders in 48 days. First-month deliveries reached roughly 30,000 cars. That pace explains why the SU7’s appearance in Spain is immediately read as possible groundwork for a European launch.
Technically, the model aims at the territory of pricey electric GTs. The 2024 version made 299 hp in the Standard and Pro trims, while the Max delivered 673 hp. The 2026 version raised output by around 20 hp in each variant, with the flagship edging close to 700 hp. Range on China’s CLTC cycle, which is noticeably more optimistic than Europe’s WLTP, is quoted at up to 835 km for the Max and up to 902 km for the Pro.
The updated SU7 also gained the Xiaomi HAD system, the ability to recover up to 670 km of range in 15 minutes of charging, a dual-chamber air suspension and adaptive CDC dampers on the Pro and Max trims. The SU7 Ultra stands apart, with around 1,500 hp and a reputation already made at the Nürburgring.
Xiaomi’s official entry into Europe is expected in 2027. But if the SU7 is already being tested in Spain, the preparation looks far from theoretical. The Chinese sedan may arrive not just as one more EV, but as a model that has already built a reputation rare for a newcomer.
