Arcfox αS5: BAIC’s high-performance electric liftback debuts at Chengdu Auto Show 2025

At BAIC’s stand in Chengdu, several Arcfox debuts shared the spotlight—the αT5 crossover and the αS5 sports coupe—signaling a new direction for the brand in the electric segment.

Reporters from SPEEDME.RU took a close look at the sporty αS5 liftback. The car stands out with an aggressive aerodynamic kit, a rear spoiler, performance-oriented wheels, and a contrasting livery with stripes. The visual package underscores its intent without resorting to excess.

The cabin follows the template of modern sports cars: seats with pronounced side bolsters, red accents, and a large infotainment display. The interface is driver-focused and supports extensive customization, including sport profiles with real-time readouts. The overall layout feels purposeful, with tech serving the driving experience rather than distracting from it.

According to preliminary information, the αS5 will use a dual-motor setup with a combined output of about 400–450 kW, suggesting a 0–100 km/h sprint of roughly three seconds. Top speed is expected to fall between 220 and 240 km/h, while range will vary from 550 to 650 kilometers on the CLTC cycle, depending on version. Battery capacity may reach 100 kWh, making the model competitive among electric sports cars.

All told, the Arcfox αS5 arrives as BAIC’s first genuinely high-performance electric sports car, positioned to compete with the Tesla Model 3 Performance and the top-spec BYD Seal. It blends contemporary design, athletic dynamics, and advanced tech, shaping a new image-driven trajectory for the brand.
