Skoda is preparing to launch the Peaq — a large electric crossover that will become the brand's battery flagship and fill the niche in the EV line-up currently held by the Kodiaq. The premiere is scheduled for 23 June in France, with European orders opening in the summer.

The Peaq has grown out of the Vision 7S concept from 2022 and will be larger than the Kodiaq. It measures 4874 mm in length with a wheelbase of 2965 mm. The most practical figure is the boot: the main compartment holds up to 1010 litres, plus another 37 l in the front frunk. For a seven-seat family EV that's a strong argument, especially against rivals such as the Kia EV9.

The exterior follows Skoda's new design language. Expect T-shaped lighting, a black Tech-Deck Face panel, a high beltline, wide rear pillars and flush door handles. At the rear there will be T-shaped tail lights with a connecting element carrying the brand's signature motif.

Underneath sits the Volkswagen Group's MEB platform. At launch there will be two batteries and three versions. The entry-level Peaq gets a 63 kWh battery and a rear electric motor producing 201 hp. The 90 and 90x versions use a 91 kWh battery, with outputs of 282 and 295 hp respectively.

Production will be set up at the plant in Mladá Boleslav. For Skoda this is an important car: the Peaq has to close the gap in the big family EV segment, where buyers want not only range and screens but also a proper boot, real space and the brand's familiar practicality.
