GMC Sierra EV 2027 model year is still some way from reaching dealerships, but General Motors has already mapped out the key milestones leading up to launch. According to information available to dealers, regular production of the electric pickup is currently scheduled for October 12, 2026.

Ahead of that, GMC dealers will get access to the ordering process in stages. Preliminary order data in GM’s system is set to open on August 8, 2026. Formal submission of customer and stock orders is due to begin on September 3. Production of the 2026 Sierra EV, per the current timetable, wraps up on October 9 — just three days before the switch to the 2027 version. All dates remain tentative and could shift closer to launch.

GM has yet to disclose official details on changes for the 2027 Sierra EV. The source expects moderate refinements rather than a major overhaul. The pickup remains GMC’s flagship electric model and competes with the Ford F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T and Tesla Cybertruck.

One of the most notable possible changes is the switch to the NACS charging port developed by Tesla. GM previously confirmed plans to move its electric vehicles to this standard. For owners that matters: compatible Tesla Supercharger stations will be usable without an adapter. The Sierra EV is built at the Factory Zero plant in Detroit and Hamtramck, Michigan.
