Nissan X-Trail in Australia will get a new Rock Creek version by the end of 2026. The variant expands the family crossover lineup alongside more affordable e-Power hybrids that Nissan is preparing to counter the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid.

The main catch with Rock Creek — it is more of a visual makeover than a new off-road package. The Australian version is not expected to gain meaningfully more capability off the tarmac compared to the regular X-Trail. It should be closer to the Japanese variant with 19-inch wheels and road tyres, rather than the American versions with 17-inch rims and chunkier off-road rubber.

In Japan, the X-Trail Rock Creek stands out with a black grille featuring silver Navara-style slots, black bumper inserts, Lava Red accents, black roof rails and signature badging. Inside, buyers get waterproof seat upholstery, red stitching and a red accent on the steering wheel. The pitch is a practical, tougher look — not a transformation into a proper off-roader.

The second major change is the arrival of a front-wheel-drive e-Power. The hybrid X-Trail in Australia is currently sold only with e-4ORCE all-wheel drive, and the new version should come in cheaper. Total output is expected to drop from 157 to 150 kW, since the 100 kW rear electric motor is dropped. The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine in the e-Power system acts purely as a generator and does not drive the wheels directly.

Pricing for the X-Trail Rock Creek has not been announced. The current Australian X-Trail lineup ranges from AUD 38,140 to AUD 54,415 for petrol versions and from AUD 48,915 to AUD 58,215 for all-wheel-drive hybrids.
