Cadillac XT5 refresh: Chengdu debut, pricing and key upgrades
Cadillac unveiled the updated XT5 at the Chengdu Auto Show. The crossover reaches the market in four versions, with a recommended price range from 379,900 to 459,900 yuan. To mark the brand’s anniversary, there is a special promotion with a surprising price starting at 22.99 million yuan, plus bonuses of up to 10,000 yuan for trade-in and additional discounts for prepayment.
The exterior keeps its familiar character, refined with a few new touches and a fresh body color called Sailimu Blue. Dimensions are unchanged at 4888x1957x1694 mm with a 2863 mm wheelbase. Even the base model rides on 20-inch wheels, while top trims add 21-inch rims and Brembo brakes—details that give the range a more confident stance.
Inside, the atmosphere steps up thanks to a 33-inch curved 9K display and a broader suite of amenities: heated, ventilated and massaging seats, AKG audio, a panoramic roof, and a digital rearview mirror. The focus is clearly on richer tech and finish rather than radical design shifts, a strategy that suits the XT5’s audience.
The powertrain remains familiar: a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine rated at 174 kW, paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and a 9-speed automatic. Most versions include all-wheel drive as standard, which makes the lineup straightforward for buyers who value traction and stability.
Positioned against the Audi Q5L, BMW X3, and Mercedes-Benz GLC, the refreshed XT5 leans on updated equipment and anniversary pricing to draw attention from shoppers seeking a premium crossover with generous features at a more accessible outlay. The value pitch looks especially compelling given the specification on offer.
