New Mercedes-Benz electric GLC unveiled at IAA 2025

Mercedes-Benz is gearing up to launch the new electric GLC, which is set to replace the diesel and hybrid versions of the popular crossover. The company unveiled the newcomer at IAA 2025, as previously reported by SPEEDME. The first market will be Slovakia, where buyers will receive a bonus: a charging card loaded with €1,000 of free charging, valid for two years after purchase. A practical incentive that should help ease the switch to electric.

The electric GLC sits on a new platform and brings a fully reworked design and interior. Inside, there’s a nearly meter-wide digital panel, contemporary tech, and a roomy cabin. The recipe reads as thoughtfully aimed at day-to-day comfort rather than tech for its own sake, which tends to win over families and frequent drivers.

The flagship version will use two electric motors with a combined output of about 500 hp and all-wheel drive. Range is quoted at up to 713 km, with a later single-motor variant offering up to 730 km. On paper, the figures point to confident long-distance capability, the kind that makes weekend trips and motorway commutes feel easy.

For Mercedes, this is a strategic play: the brand expects the electric GLC to rank among the best in its class and challenge not only diesel SUVs but also premium EVs such as the BMW iX3 and Polestar 3. The positioning looks measured and competitive—exactly what the segment demands right now.
