The world’s most expensive and rarest cars: the definitive top 12
Experts at Tarantas News have published a ranking of the world’s most expensive and rare cars—machines that serve as emblems of engineering prowess and opulence. The selection reads like a tour of modern coachbuilding at its most ambitious. The list includes cars with price tags in the tens of millions of dollars, and production is often limited to only a few examples.
Leading the price charts is the Rolls-Royce Boat Tail—a singular cabriolet priced at $28 million. Only three exist, each hand-built with bespoke finishes and integrated picnic accessories. Second place goes to the Pagani Huayra Codalunga ($7.4 million), with just five cars featuring a stretched body and an AMG V12.
No less striking are the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport ($3.9 million) with 1,577 hp and the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut ($3 million), capable of exceeding 530 km/h. Among the rarest entries are the Mercedes-Maybach Exelero ($8 million) and the Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta ($17.5 million), the latter limited to three cars.
Ferrari Pininfarina Sergio and Lykan Hypersport deserve a separate mention—essentially collectible artifacts of the automotive world, where design is inseparable from exclusivity. They come across more like rolling sculptures than conventional transportation.
The ranking underscores how the upper echelon of carmaking has become its own form of art, with each model doubling as an investment that distills ideas of perfection, speed, and status.
