BMW M4 GT3 #46 driven by Valentino Rossi heads to auction

BMW M Motorsport will send a unique BMW M4 GT3 wearing number 46, driven by the legendary Valentino Rossi, across the auction block. The sale is scheduled for October 18, 2025, in Munich with RM Sotheby’s.

Beyond the headline driver, the résumé is equally strong: the car competed in 27 races across GT World Challenge Europe, the Intercontinental GT Challenge, and the FIA WEC. Highlights include victories at Road to Le Mans and in the Sprint Cup at Misano, a podium at Imola, and second place at the 2025 Bathurst 12 Hour. On paper alone, it’s more than a showpiece.

What truly sets this example apart is its preserved, battle-scarred state. The bodywork was left unrestored, still carrying gravel rash, tire marks, and the dust of the circuit. Artist Walter Maurer finished it with a matte clear coat and added signatures from Rossi and members of the team. That untouched look tells a story no restoration can.

Power comes from a 3.0-liter P58 Biturbo engine with more than 500 hp, paired to a six-speed sequential gearbox. For collectors and fans of uncompromised racing hardware, this is a rare opportunity: offered directly by BMW M Motorsport, it stands as an authentic slice of motorsport history.
