Santana Motors revival: dealer network grows, 2025 pickup leads the off-road comeback

The storied Santana Motors marque is gearing up for a serious return to the market, taking a cue from the revived EBRO brand. After a long standstill, the Linares-based Spanish company has struck strategic alliances with Chinese partners—Zhengzhou Nissan Automobile (ZZ Nissan) and Anhui Coronet Tech. These deals set the foundation for restarting production and a broader international push.

Santana has already signed with 25 dealers, a network that will cover 80% of Spain and is set to reach full national coverage by year’s end. The plan doesn’t stop at the Pyrenees: initial partnerships are in place in Portugal, Italy, Gibraltar, and Andorra. It’s a clear signal that Santana aims to reestablish itself as an international player in the off-road space, not just trade on nostalgia.

In parallel, the manufacturer has signed a parts-supply agreement to ensure service and component availability not only for new vehicles but also for classic Santana models—an essential move to retain trust among long-time owners.

The first new model will be a pickup based on the Nissan Frontier Pro, with a debut slated for late 2025. A new wave of 4x4 SUVs will follow, aiming to recapture the spirit of the famed Spanish machines known for toughness and mechanical simplicity. If pricing and specification land well, that recipe tends to resonate with buyers who prefer straightforward engineering over frills.

Santana’s return stands as a sign of Spanish automotive renewal. If the company makes its China partnerships work and builds out the international network, it has a real shot at becoming a visible name among off-roaders again. In the end, execution—not heritage—will decide the outcome.
