Toyota unveils next-gen Audio Multimedia for 2026 RAV4 with 5G and AI
Toyota has unveiled the next generation of its multimedia system, set to debut in the 2026 RAV4. The revamped Toyota Audio Multimedia platform adds 5G connectivity, built-in artificial intelligence, enhanced navigation, and even a trip-recording feature.
Developed by Toyota USA engineers specifically for the North American market, the headline upgrade is AT&T 5G integration, delivering quick data transfer and a stable connection. The interface now looks fresher and is fully customizable: users can rearrange widgets, add shortcut buttons, and control key functions with a single tap. In everyday use, it finally feels modern and thoughtfully laid out.
The voice assistant has taken a clear step forward as well. It now processes commands locally, without relying on the cloud, and can change music, adjust climate settings, and handle simple math. This shift makes routine tasks feel more natural behind the wheel.
Another major addition is the built-in dashcam: the car’s cameras can record what’s happening on the road and save clips to a USB drive. On top of that, the digital instrument cluster can finally display a full navigation map—a long-awaited capability Toyota had been missing for years. It’s a small change on paper, yet it meaningfully improves day-to-day usability.
Hybrid and electric versions gain a dedicated “EV Domain,” where drivers can manage charging, set limits, and even initiate charging through the Toyota app.
While many of these tools may be familiar from competitors, the upgrade makes the 2026 RAV4 the most technologically advanced Toyota SUV to date and signals the brand’s shift toward a new generation of smart vehicles.
