Ora 5 GT and Sport 2026: prices, powertrains and specs
GWM's sporty Ora 5 GT and Sport trims now come with a 1.5T gas engine, Hi2 hybrid system or pure EV drivetrain. Trade-in prices start at 71,800 yuan.
The sporty branch of the Ora 5 turned out not to be purely electric after all. GWM has launched Sport and GT versions in China with a gasoline engine, the Hi2 hybrid system, and a pure electric drivetrain right from the start. The headline price of 71,800 yuan — roughly $10,000 — comes with a catch: it applies only under the manufacturer's trade-in subsidy.
Without it, the Ora 5 Sport costs 81,800 to 135,800 yuan. The GT ranges from 99,800 to 143,800 yuan. With the trade-in subsidy, prices start at 71,800 and 89,800 yuan respectively. These terms were published in Chinese materials from the launch event.
This is not the first time Ora has drifted from its original role as a purely electric brand. The regular Ora 5 already picked up gasoline and HEV versions back in spring, and GWM has since been preparing a plug-in hybrid with a noticeably longer body. Now the same approach has reached the sportier trims.
The gasoline version uses a 1.5-liter turbo engine rated at 184 hp paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. The Hi2 hybrid produces 226 hp and 476 Nm of torque, with a claimed fuel consumption of 4.5 l/100 km under WLTC.
The electric versions get a 204 hp motor with 260 Nm of torque, a 58.3 kWh Svolt battery, and a 0-100 km/h sprint of 7.4 seconds. The Sport is rated for 580 km on the CLTC cycle, the GT for 550 km. Fast charging from 30% to 80% takes 20 minutes.
The GT stands out with more aggressive aerodynamics: a large rear wing, 19-inch wheels, and a sport body kit. At 180 km/h, the electric version generates up to 37 kgf of extra downforce. There's a Super Sport mode, a simulated V8 engine sound, and a launch-control function. Higher trims of both models can be equipped with lidar and Coffee Pilot 3 with urban and highway NOA.
The Ora 5 itself is already moving beyond the domestic market: the family is being considered in other body styles for overseas markets. For now, though, the current GT and Sport versions have only launched in China. At the presentation, GWM said both versions are planned for export in the future, though specific countries and timelines haven't been announced yet.
