Vigilante unveils an elegant 1988 Grand Wagoneer restomod with an 807-hp Hellcat Redeye V8

Texas-based Vigilante has unveiled one of the most elegant restomods in recent years—a 1988 Grand Wagoneer. At first glance it’s every inch the icon, yet beneath the body sits thoroughly modern hardware, a blend that preserves the charm while quietly elevating capability.

It rides on a reworked frame with a strengthened four-link suspension and Fox Racing dampers. Powerful six-piston brakes take over stopping duties, and a modern steering box sharpens responses—the kind of setup that adds confidence without disturbing the period-correct stance.

The headline act is the engine. Under the hood sits a 6.2-liter Hellcat Redeye V8 with 807 hp, paired to a 4-speed automatic and a four-wheel-drive system with Dana axles. The body remains untouched—a rarity among restomods and a choice that lets the design speak for itself.

Vigilante kept the original lines, Brooks Stevens–style wheels, and an authentic interior. The finished example is priced at $385,000, while base builds can be ordered from $250,000. This Grand Wagoneer reads as more than a restomod—an ode to American engineering and taste, executed for enthusiasts who value craft as much as outright power.
