Ram 1500 2025–2026 recall: rearview camera software and NHTSA campaign 26V560
FCA is recalling 239,131 Ram 1500 pickups for a rearview-camera software problem and 2,017 Chrysler vans over a brake-pedal sensor that can disable ESC.
FCA has registered two recalls in the United States covering a total of 241,148 vehicles, although almost all of them are Ram 1500 pickups. Campaign 26V560 covers 239,131 trucks from the 2025–2026 model years built from October 6, 2023, through February 23, 2026. NHTSA lists an estimated defect rate of 100% for this population: a radio software error can prevent the rearview-camera image from appearing when reverse is selected.
The repair is software-based. FCA will update the radio software free of charge, either over the air or at a dealership. VINs are expected to become searchable in the NHTSA database on September 9, while owner notification letters are scheduled to begin on September 24. This is a separate recall, although the symptom is familiar: in August the company launched another service campaign covering 848,511 Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram vehicles with a similar camera failure. The new 26V560 campaign covers a different population of Ram 1500 pickups, including 2025-model-year vehicles.
The second campaign, 26V561, is much smaller at 2,017 vehicles. It covers 1,652 Chrysler Pacifica minivans, 357 Voyagers and just 8 Pacifica Plug-In Hybrids. FCA estimates that about 10% of the vehicles are actually defective, or roughly 200 units. This time the cause is hardware: a capacitor in the brake-pedal position sensor can crack, after which the electronic stability control system can become disabled.
An over-the-air update will not solve this issue. Dealers must inspect the sensor and replace it if necessary. There is no separate warning before the failure; once the system is disabled, the ESC warning lamp illuminates. VIN checks are also scheduled to open on September 9, with owner notices planned for September 29.
The documents also contain an unusual inconsistency. NHTSA’s short defect description refers to a Voyager Plug-In Hybrid, even though that vehicle does not appear in the campaign’s model list. The full Part 573 report identifies the Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid instead, and only eight of those vehicles are included.
This is not Ram’s first software-related recall of 2026. Earlier in the year, a separate 65,348 pickups were recalled because instrument-cluster software could leave the driver without display information. That campaign involved a different electronic module and a different group of Ram vehicles.
Service details: NHTSA 26V560000 / FCA 83D — free radio software update over the air or at a dealership, with owner letters scheduled for September 24, 2026; NHTSA 26V561000 / FCA 69D — inspection and, if required, free replacement of the brake-pedal position sensor, with notices scheduled for September 29. VINs for both campaigns are expected to become available for checking on NHTSA.gov on September 9, 2026.
