Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross EV: 650 km range, 67- and 89-kWh batteries
Mitsubishi updates the Eclipse Cross EV with 67-kWh LFP and 89-kWh NMC batteries. Range reaches 650 km WLTP, while the smaller pack charges from 15% to 80% in about 24 minutes.
Mitsubishi has reshaped the battery lineup of the electric Eclipse Cross just a year after its European debut. Instead of the previous single 87 kWh battery, there are now two options: a 67 kWh LFP pack and an 89 kWh NMC pack. Official Mitsubishi Motors Europe figures confirm up to 472 km of WLTP range for the smaller version and up to 650 km for the larger one.
The most interesting detail is charging. The smaller LFP battery accepts up to 165 kW and charges from 15% to 80% in about 24 minutes. The larger NMC pack is limited to 150 kW and takes around 28 minutes. For the new NMC battery, Mitsubishi has cut charging time by roughly nine minutes compared with the previous 87 kWh pack.
The electric motor is unchanged: the front wheels are still driven by a 160 kW unit, or about 218 hp. Both versions support 11 kW AC charging, while a 22 kW onboard charger is offered as an option depending on market and trim. Permitted trailer weight is up to 1.1 tonnes.
The Eclipse Cross remains a close relative of the Renault Scenic E-Tech: the two models share an architecture and now use batteries with the same capacities and chemistries, along with similar charging characteristics. Their claimed driving ranges are different, however. The previous European Mitsubishi specification used an 87 kWh battery and offered up to 635 km of range, while the manufacturer had already promised a more affordable version with a smaller battery in 2026.
For Mitsubishi, this kind of component sharing has become a foundation of its electric strategy. In parallel, the brand is preparing another electric Eclipse for North America — the Sportback, based on the Nissan Leaf — so the historic Eclipse name is now being used for two technically different model lines.
In practice, the choice between the two versions is not only about maximum range. If 650 km on one charge is not something you need regularly, the smaller LFP configuration offers higher peak DC charging power and a shorter claimed fast-charging time. The larger NMC version, by contrast, is aimed primarily at longer journeys between stops.
