TANK 300 Hooke Road: solid axles, dimensions, engine and 40-inch tire compatibility
TANK 300 Hooke Road opens for pre-orders in China with solid axles front and rear, a 3010 mm wheelbase, 41-degree approach angle and support for 40-inch off-road tires.
On September 15 at 8:00 p.m. China time, TANK will open pre-orders for the TANK 300 Hooke Road, the production evolution of the off-road show car unveiled in spring 2025. The biggest change is not in the body kit: the independent double-wishbone front suspension has been replaced by a solid axle, so the SUV now uses solid axles at both ends.
The claim about 40-inch wheels needs clarification. The vehicle is engineered to accommodate 40-inch off-road tires, but homologation data lists 265/70 R18 tires. Their overall diameter is about 828 mm, or 32.6 inches. In other words, 40 inches is a supported modification, not the factory tire size. Body dimensions are 4886×1984×1960 mm, the wheelbase is 3010 mm, and the approach angle is 41 degrees.
For comparison, the standard TANK 300 has a 2750 mm wheelbase, is 4760 mm long and has a 33-degree approach angle. That makes the Hooke Road 126 mm longer, extends the wheelbase by 260 mm and adds 8 degrees to the approach angle. The regular model also keeps an independent front suspension. This makes clear that Hooke Road is not just a cosmetic special edition, but a version built for a different use case.
A fresh official poster provides the latest engine reference: 2.0T, 170 kW and 400 Nm. Earlier certification data, however, listed 175 kW. Until the final technical specification sheet is published, that discrepancy is worth noting. The next key figure is the price, which will show how much GWM charges for moving from the all-round TANK 300 to a factory-built machine for serious off-road use.
