Aston Martin's 70th anniversary at Newport Pagnell: Vanquish, Lagonda and design legends
Marking its 70th anniversary, Aston Martin hosted a celebration at its legendary Newport Pagnell facility. This is where, since the mid-20th century, the brand’s defining cars have been crafted, turning into enduring symbols of British automotive culture. In that setting, the milestone felt grounded and authentic.
More than a hundred classic Aston Martin models gathered on the factory grounds, spanning from the late 1950s to the early twenty-first century. The display traced the brand’s evolution, with attention naturally drawn to the V12 Vanquish, known for its elegance and dynamic character, and the luxurious Lagonda sedan, produced in limited numbers and favored by high-ranking clientele. Up close, the Vanquish still comes across as taut and purposeful, while the Lagonda projects a confident, patrician air.
The guest list underscored the occasion’s weight. British car designer Ian Callum, whose name is tied to landmark Aston Martin projects such as the DB9 and Vantage, joined the festivities, as did racer Ray Mallock, who achieved success in motorsport with cars from the marque. Their presence quietly highlighted how design and competition continue to shape Aston Martin’s identity.
