New MG4 variant retains design but introduces next-gen battery technology
Chinese regulatory filings have revealed the MG4 Anxin Edition, a variant featuring a manganese-based semi-solid-state battery. The car retains the exterior styling and powertrain of other MG4 versions, with a single motor producing 120 kW.
The new battery replaces the lithium iron phosphate unit found in some trims, without altering the output or drivetrain configuration. Design elements remain familiar: revised headlamp clusters, a segmented honeycomb-style lower intake, aerodynamic side channels, an illuminated front badge, and full-width arrow-themed taillights. Dimensions are 4,395 mm long, 1,842 mm wide, and 1,551 mm high, with a 2,750 mm wheelbase. Depending on trim, the MG4 will come with 16- or 17-inch wheels and an optional two-tone paint finish.
Inside, the layout includes a two-spoke steering wheel, a compact digital instrument display, a column-mounted gear selector, and a floating central touchscreen. Battery capacity and range details have yet to be announced. Pricing for semi-solid-state-equipped models will be revealed in September, with deliveries planned before the end of 2025.
