Porsche Cayenne Electric First Drive Review: Big Power and Range

Porsche is preparing to launch its second all-electric SUV, the 2026 Cayenne EV, and early prototype drives suggest it could become the brand’s most powerful model yet. The range-topping Cayenne Turbo EV is targeting over 1,000 horsepower, potentially surpassing the Taycan Turbo GT as Porsche’s ultimate performance machine.

All variants — base, S, and Turbo — will share a 113-kWh battery pack, promising over 370 miles (600 km) on WLTP and above 300 miles on the EPA cycle. Porsche’s 800-volt architecture now comes with NACS charging, enabling ultra-fast top-ups.

The Turbo stands out with unique active aero: deployable winglets hidden in the rear bumper extend above 37 mph, contributing to a drag coefficient of just 0.25.

Inside, the Cayenne EV debuts a curved central touchscreen integrated seamlessly into the dashboard and console, supported by advanced software, AR head-up display, and Porsche Active Ride suspension.

On Spanish test routes, the SUV impressed with its handling and raw pace. The Sport Response button unleashed 10 seconds of maximum output, turning overtakes into warp-speed bursts. Even the base version should hit 60 mph in under five seconds, while the Turbo aims for sub-three.

When production begins in 2026, the Cayenne EV will join — not replace — its combustion-powered sibling, offering customers a high-performance electric alternative in Porsche’s most iconic SUV line.
