Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT: 777 hp rumor, engine and Trackhawk status
Stellantis has put a Grand Cherokee SRT on its roadmap, but Jeep has not confirmed a 777 hp engine, the Trackhawk name or a launch date.
It is still too early to put 777 hp on the specification sheet of a new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT. The high-performance version itself can now be considered part of Stellantis' plans: at Investor Day 2026, the company listed the Grand Cherokee / L as a model with an SRT variant planned. However, the engine, output, Trackhawk name and launch timing have not been announced.
One of the first signals came in February from Jeep vice president of sales Mauricio Lopez. Asked about a high-performance Grand Cherokee, he said that “absolutely all options are being considered.” At the time, he was talking about the possibility of such a model, not confirming a specific production project.
Later, the plans became more concrete. Stellantis said it would use the SRT division for Dodge, Jeep and Ram models. In addition to the Ram TRX and Ram Rumble Bee, the company plans eight more SRT models over the strategic period.
That is also where the 777 hp figure comes from. The new Ram 1500 Rumble Bee SRT uses a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 rated at exactly that output. Using the same engine in the Grand Cherokee is therefore a technically plausible scenario, but Jeep has not said that this powertrain is intended for a future SRT or Trackhawk.
If a 777 hp V8 does end up under the hood of the Grand Cherokee, its stated output would exceed the gasoline-only Aston Martin DBX S at 717 hp. But it is still premature to call the future Jeep the most powerful production SUV with an internal-combustion engine because the model's final specifications have not been announced.
The transmission, all-wheel-drive system, suspension and brake tuning, price and premiere date also remain unconfirmed. For now, 777 hp is a reasoned assumption based on an engine already used by Ram, not an announced specification of the new Grand Cherokee SRT.
