According to MotorFan, Daihatsu has already ended production of the current Rocky specification, but the model itself is not leaving the market. The outlet says the brand’s official online configurator now warns that sales of the current version will finish once dealer inventory is exhausted. Daihatsu has not yet officially disclosed what will replace it.

MotorFan reports that a partially updated Rocky is expected on November 24, 2026. The main change is said to be a new version of Smart Assist with a more capable camera. The system is expected to detect a cyclist crossing the vehicle’s path, an oncoming car when turning right, and a pedestrian crossing while the vehicle is turning. Daihatsu has not officially announced the update date.

The proposed feature set is plausible because Daihatsu is already introducing similar functions on other vehicles. The Subaru Chiffon, which uses Daihatsu technology, received almost the same Smart Assist functions in September. Daihatsu’s current Taft page also lists detection of a cyclist crossing the road, an oncoming vehicle during a right turn, and a pedestrian crossing the vehicle’s path while turning.

No major body redesign is expected. Preliminary information says the current powertrains will remain: a 1.2-liter gasoline engine with front-wheel drive, a 1.0-liter turbo engine for 4WD versions, and the series-type e-SMART HYBRID. Only minor interior trim changes are predicted for the X and Premium G grades.

MotorFan also reports a possible price increase of about ¥50,000. Daihatsu has not yet confirmed either a new price list or the size of the increase.

For now, the only firm point is that, according to MotorFan, production of the current specification is nearing its end. The November 24 date, upgraded Smart Assist, continuation of the current powertrain range and an approximately ¥50,000 price increase remain preliminary until Daihatsu makes an official announcement.
