Mazda DRW59 and DRW60 2026: affected VINs and dealer repairs

A. Krivonosov

Mazda DRW59 covers 2026 Mazda3 and CX-30 with P0126 caused by PCM logic; DRW60 replaces rear door glass on some CX-50 models.

About 17,942 new Mazda3 and CX-30 vehicles were at U.S. dealers or in transit when Mazda launched campaign DRW59 and placed affected cars under Stop Delivery until repaired. The issue is unusual: the Check Engine light can illuminate with code P0126:00 for a thermostat stuck open, but on vehicles covered by DRW59 Mazda attributes the fault to incorrect PCM control logic. The remedy is PCM reprogramming with no parts replacement.

DRW59 covers 2026 CX-30 crossovers with VINs from 3MVDM****TM100015 to 3MVDM****TM141099, built from August 5, 2025 through February 26, 2026, and Mazda3 cars with VINs from JM1BP****T1850019 to JM1BP****T1878007, built from July 2, 2025 through February 25, 2026. Mazda stresses that falling within the VIN range alone is not enough: DRW59 must show Open status in eMDCS. The labor allowance for the reflash is 0.3 hour.

This matters for diagnosis as well. A P0126 code on any Mazda should not automatically be treated as a software issue. That conclusion applies specifically to vehicles for which DRW59 is Open; other cars still require normal cooling-system diagnosis.

The second program, DRW60, applies to 2026 CX-50 and CX-50 Hybrid models with VINs from 7MMVA****TN176390 to 7MMVA****TN606054. Poor adhesion of the urethane can allow the rear door glass holder to separate from the glass. The door may then rattle and the window may stop lowering. Mazda instructs dealers to replace both rear door glasses, right and left, rather than just the holder. The small fixed rear quarter glass is not affected.

The program covers vehicles built from May 18 through May 28, 2026, and again the VIN range alone is not sufficient: DRW60 must be Open in eMDCS. At launch, about 180 new vehicles were at dealers or in transit. The labor allowance is 0.9 hour.

A key difference from a conventional safety recall is that Mazda explicitly states there is no separate owner notification for Dealer Re-Work programs. Owners of already sold, used or independently imported vehicles should therefore have the full VIN checked by a Mazda dealer and ask for the DRW59 or DRW60 status in eMDCS. Official documents for both programs appear in the NHTSA database as dealer service materials, not as federal safety recalls.

Separately, Mazda raised U.S. destination and handling charges on August 11: the fee is $1,595 for the CX-30 and CX-50 and $1,315 for the Mazda3. The CX-30 is also receiving regional equipment updates; on September 14, Mazda Taiwan introduced the 2027 model with an expanded driver-assistance package and a new 20S Air Edition.
