€24,900 for the Peugeot 208 and €30,800 for the 2008 crossover — those are the starting prices in Italy for the new LUMIERE series. Prices are quoted on the road, excluding the regional IPT tax. The cars are already available to order with petrol, hybrid and fully electric powertrains.

The main story here is not the technology. LUMIERE is based on the Allure trim but adds several more upscale touches. From the GT version it borrows the front seats with three-material Tremezzo upholstery and blue-green Opalite stitching. Aluminium sill plates and additional decorative details are also included.

The 208 is offered for the first time in Verde Alvao green with a contrasting black roof and 16-inch NOMA wheels. The 2008 gets Blu Nazare blue, 17-inch KARAKOY wheels and roof rails finished in gloss black. Both versions have keyless entry, push-button start and an HD reversing camera. The 2008 also adds a two-level boot floor.

A look at the French range shows that LUMIERE is hardly new in technical terms. The ENVY series introduced on 1 September uses the same Verde Alvao and Bleu Nazaré colours, the same wheels, Tremezzo seats, Opalite stitching, keyless entry and HD camera. In France, ENVY starts at €24,050 for the 208 and €30,500 for the 2008. Peugeot has effectively adapted one equipment concept for the Italian market and given it a separate name.

The name was chosen deliberately. Peugeot is the official automotive partner of the 21st Rome Film Fest, which runs from 13 to 25 October. LUMIERE will be presented at MAXXI on 13 October, while the cars will also be displayed at the Auditorium Parco della Musica from 13 to 25 October.

At the same time, Peugeot continues to reshape trim structures in other European markets. In France, from 1 October the brand added standard equipment worth up to €1750 without raising prices. As a result, identical 208 and 2008 model names increasingly say little about the exact equipment: when buying a car from another country, the specific market and specification matter more.

Peugeot has announced no LUMIERE-specific changes to the engine, battery or chassis. This is a design-and-comfort version of two existing models, and its main difference from the French ENVY is its Italian positioning around cinema and its separate price list.
