Tesla rolls out Low Power Mode in 2025.32 update

Tesla has rolled out a new feature designed to ease one of EV owners’ biggest concerns: battery drain during long-term parking. The 2025.32 software update introduces «Low Power Mode,» which reduces phantom drain — the energy consumed by auxiliary systems when the car is idle.

EVs never fully shut off, as they keep systems active for connectivity, app communication, and features like Sentry Mode or Cabin Overheat Protection. This constant draw, known as vampire drain, can add up over days or weeks, leaving owners worried about returning to a depleted battery after a holiday.

Low Power Mode works much like a smartphone’s power-saving function. It disables non-essential features such as Sentry Mode, Summon Ready, Keep Climate On, Camp Mode, and Scheduled Preconditioning. Owners can enable it manually from the vehicle’s controls or the Tesla app, or it can automatically engage when the state of charge falls below a set threshold.

While some functions remain available when plugged in — for instance, Sentry Mode during charging — the main goal is to extend how long the car can sit unused without losing significant range. Tesla notes that the car remains accessible through the app even with Low Power Mode activated.

This feature not only reassures owners leaving their cars parked for weeks but also benefits drivers venturing into areas with limited charging infrastructure.
