The two-seat smart #2, unveiled on October 12 at the Paris Motor Show, has not reached its first customers yet, but the company is already preparing a sporty BRABUS derivative. Official teasers show a dark body, red styling accents and additional aerodynamic parts. A full first showing is expected before the end of 2026, while the market launch is planned for 2027.

The images reveal red inserts in the front bumper, a red outline around the logo, decorative elements around the headlights and A-pillars, and black wheels. Small aerodynamic add-ons make the compact electric car look more aggressive. smart has already confirmed the #2 BRABUS, although full specifications have not been released.

The main question concerns the powertrain. The regular smart #2 uses a rear-mounted 60 kW, or 82 hp, electric motor and a 35.8 kWh LFP battery. It is rated at up to 290 km on the WLTP cycle. smart says these figures are still preliminary and may change after European homologation is completed.

Power, acceleration, range and battery specifications for the BRABUS version have not yet been officially disclosed. Specialist media expect a stronger electric motor and dedicated suspension tuning, but smart has not confirmed those changes.

The standard smart #2 is based on the new ECA electric platform. Pure, Pure+ and Premium versions are 2746 mm long. The car retains a two-seat layout and rear-wheel drive, while its curb-to-curb turning circle is only 6.95 m. The architecture also allows a five-link rear suspension, an unusual solution for such a small car.

For BRABUS, the car marks a return to sporty versions of small urban smart models. The new two-seater differs substantially from the old fortwo, using the new ECA platform, a modern electric architecture and the redesigned Tridion Cell Evo body structure.

The standard smart #2 can already be ordered in several European countries, with orders opening on October 13, 2026 and first deliveries scheduled for 2027. The BRABUS version is not yet available to order. Its price and exact launch timing remain undisclosed, although smart says the sporty derivative will become available during 2027.
