Chinese automaker Chery has officially confirmed plans to launch its fifth brand in the UK. iCAUR will arrive in early 2027, led by the large electrified V27 SUV. The brand will have its own team and sales channel rather than simply expanding the ranges of Chery’s existing divisions.

At the end of September, Chery was still assessing iCAUR’s prospects in Britain and introducing vehicles to potential dealers. The decision to launch has now been made. According to Reuters, iCAUR will join Chery, Omoda, Jaecoo and Lepas, already present in the country. The brand is known as iCAR in China, while the name iCAUR is used internationally.

The UK launch comes amid rapid growth for the Chinese group. Industry registration figures show that Chery’s four existing brands registered around 124,400 vehicles in the UK from January through September, taking a 7.15% market share. In September alone, their combined total was about 32,800 vehicles, roughly 9.4% of all registrations. The Jaecoo 7 was the UK’s best-selling new car that month.

The main attraction will be the iCAUR V27, a large SUV with angular styling and an electrified powertrain. It targets buyers seeking a roomy vehicle with a distinctive appearance. Chery has not yet disclosed the exact specifications of the UK model.

Chery has confirmed that its engineering centre at Millbrook will be involved in adapting the V27 to local conditions. Engineers will tune the vehicle for British roads and buyer preferences. Final power output, battery capacity and driving range have not been announced.

iCAUR will have its own UK team and a dedicated sales channel. This is a separate market launch, not simply a rebadging exercise involving other Chery brands. The company has yet to explain how its dealer network will be organised.

The fifth brand will broaden Chery’s presence in one of Europe’s major car markets. iCAUR will compete both with established SUV manufacturers and other Chinese brands expanding into Britain.

The next steps are the publication of UK pricing and final specifications for the V27. Sales are scheduled to begin in 2027, but exact delivery dates, trim levels and prices have not been announced.
