The 353 hp gap between the Mercedes-AMG GT 55 SUV and GT 63 SUV vanishes when sustained rather than peak output is compared. Both electric SUVs are rated at 530 kW (721 metric hp) of continuous power in Mercedes-Benz specifications published after the October 17, 2026 debut.

Peak output tells another story. The flagship GT 63 generates up to 860 kW (1,169 metric hp), versus 600 kW (816 metric hp) for the GT 55. That gives it about 43% more peak power, despite the identical continuous rating. It does not mean the cars accelerate equally quickly.

The published Boost duration is 63 seconds for the GT 63 and 55 seconds for the GT 55. This figure is not proof that either powertrain can maintain its full peak output throughout that period. Independent tests are not yet available.

Mercedes-AMG claims a 0–200 km/h time of 7.2 seconds for the GT 63, versus 9.9 seconds for the GT 55, both without one-foot rollout. Using one-foot rollout, the respective times are 6.8 and 9.4 seconds.

The two higher-output versions employ three axial-flux electric motors, an 800-volt AMG.EA architecture and direct battery-cell cooling. The design aims to support repeated high-performance runs. The electric AMG GT 4-Door follows a related concept, but its performance cannot simply be transferred to the SUV.

The entry-level Mercedes-AMG GT 53 SUV uses two synchronous motors instead of three axial-flux units. Peak output is 400 kW (544 metric hp), with 270 kW (367 metric hp) continuously. It also features AMG.EA, all-wheel drive and a two-speed transmission at the rear axle.

Orders for the GT 53 SUV open in Germany on October 20, 2026, starting at €113,050. The GT 55 and GT 63 are due in spring 2027; their prices have not been announced, so the cost of their extra performance remains unknown.
