MG at the 2025 Chengdu Auto Show: Cyberster leads, refreshed MG4 and MG5 shine

At the 2025 Chengdu Auto Show, MG rolled out a striking lineup of newcomers, underscoring the brand’s push toward sportier dynamics and smarter tech.

The standout was the MG Cyberster — the marque’s first production sports car with gullwing doors. Aimed at global buyers, it mixes a dramatic silhouette with an all-electric powertrain and comes across as the emotional centerpiece of the booth.

The stand also featured the refreshed MG4 in several flavors: production hatchbacks with a tidier interior and track-leaning prototypes wearing widened bodywork and a substantial rear wing. The electric MG4 promises up to 520 km on a single charge and supports fast charging; on paper, that claim looks competitive.

The MG5 sedan, shown in a vivid orange, did not go unnoticed. Targeted at a younger crowd, it serves up a sporty look, generous cabin space, and a modern multimedia setup — and the bold color suits its brief.

With this booth, MG signaled breadth — from concepts to series-ready solutions — and reaffirmed its ambition to compete both in the affordable EV space and in the realm of image-driven sports cars, a two-pronged approach that gives the lineup a clear sense of direction.
