Toyota grows to 7.3% EU share as electrified models drive 2025 gains
Over the first nine months of 2025, Toyota sold a record 930,452 vehicles in Europe, a 2% increase year over year. Holding a 7.3% market share, the brand ranked second among all automakers in the EU market—steady momentum in a fiercely contested field.
The main engine of that growth was electrified models: 716,990 units found buyers, up 5% versus the prior year. These vehicles now account for 77% of Toyota’s total sales in the region, a sign that its broad electrification strategy continues to resonate with everyday drivers.
Hybrids remain the backbone of Toyota’s European lineup, while battery-electric models accelerated with a 41% rise. The standout surge came from plug-in hybrids, which jumped 209%—a clear signal that many customers still value the flexibility of dual-power drivetrains as they transition to full electric.
On the model front, the Yaris Cross had an especially strong run, dominating the B-SUV segment with an 11% share. Also popular were the Yaris, Corolla, Toyota C-HR, RAV4, and Aygo X—an assortment that neatly spans city-friendly compacts and family crossovers, helping Toyota keep its foot on the accelerator across multiple segments.
