Inside Infiniti's return-to-market plan: QX65, a purist sedan, and an e-Power hybrid SUV

Infiniti has outlined a return-to-market strategy that brings one new model each year. Leading the charge in 2026 will be the QX65, a crossover built in the United States and positioned as a sleeker, more dynamic alternative to the QX60. A steady yearly cadence should help the brand regain rhythm it has been missing.

In 2027, the marque intends to unveil a sports sedan that succeeds the Q50. Early guidance indicates it will retain rear-wheel drive and may even offer a manual transmission. That choice reads like a clear nod to driving purists, the kind of specification that can rekindle interest among enthusiasts who value feel and engagement over headline numbers.

The pivotal move arrives in 2028 with a compact hybrid SUV. Riding on the Nissan Rogue platform, it will use the e-Power system, where a gasoline engine serves to charge the battery. Production is planned for Tennessee. It’s a pragmatic play: electrified daily usability without the range anxieties that can come with full EVs.

The refreshed lineup is designed to strengthen Infiniti’s position in the premium arena and square up against new offerings from Lexus and Acura. The company is targeting sales of 100,000 vehicles by 2029, a goal that, paired with this focused product plan, suggests a more confident, better-defined brand direction.
