Kia has signaled that the idea of a big, driver-focused liftback didn’t end with the Stinger. Marking the brand’s 80th anniversary, the Vision Meta Turismo Concept arrives as a hint at a future electric flagship. The Stinger earned enthusiasts’ respect for its rear-drive layout and V6, yet it never became a mainstream hit. The lesson was about branding rather than engineering: at higher trims, buyers tended to choose established premium marques instead of spending comparable money on a car from a Korean brand.

Now Kia appears to be rebooting the concept for the EV era. Unofficial renderings based on the show car depict a more road-ready interpretation with familiar cues from today’s Kia EVs: EV6-inspired themes up front and a profile honed for maximum aerodynamic cleanliness, echoing the logic of cars like the Hyundai Ioniq 6, where every detail is tuned for range. The intent seems to be efficiency without sacrificing identity.

There are no official technical details yet, but early projections sound ambitious: up to 600 hp, a driving range of up to 800 km, and a likely move to Hyundai Motor Group’s next-generation platform, which various sources associate with the eM architecture. If those numbers hold, Kia would have a direct answer to quick, long-range EVs, and within the group the model would sit naturally alongside high-performance projects such as the Ioniq 5 N.

As for positioning, the production car is expected to become the EV8, slotting between the EV6 and the larger three-row EV9, with 2026 cited as the target.
