Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor is expanding its European presence with the launch of its Haval brand in Germany. Following the introduction of Ora and Wey, the company is now targeting the mass-market SUV segment to appeal to a broader customer base.

Targeting the mass market

Haval is positioned as a brand for practical, family-oriented buyers who value both price and features. The focus is squarely on the C-SUV segment, which remains one of Europe's most popular vehicle categories.

The initial lineup includes two crossovers: the Haval H6 and Jolion Pro. These models aim to attract customers with their combination of competitive pricing and generous standard equipment.

Multiple powertrain options

Unlike many competitors who focus solely on electric vehicles, GWM is offering different powertrain types. The Haval H6 comes to market with a hybrid system producing around 243 horsepower, while the more compact Jolion Pro features a turbocharged gasoline engine.

This approach allows the company to reach a wider audience and adapt to varying market demands. The manufacturer explicitly states it's betting on flexibility and customer choice.

Pricing and market plans

The Jolion Pro starts at approximately €24,990, while the larger H6 begins around €31,990. Additional discounts further enhance the models' competitiveness against European brands.

GWM plans to expand its dealer network to 100 locations and expects to sell about 1,500 units of each model annually. By 2027, the company intends to introduce up to nine new models to the European market.

Haval's entry into Germany signals that Chinese brands are moving from niche offerings to the mass market. Competition in the SUV class will only intensify, giving buyers more choices in terms of price and technology.
