Used Ram 1500 TRX sells for more than new version

An unusual situation has emerged in the U.S. automotive market: a used 2024 Ram 1500 TRX is listed for sale at a higher price than the new-generation model. The vehicle, with approximately 38,000 km on the odometer, is priced at $134,995, while a new Ram 1500 SRT TRX starts at $99,995.

This particular truck is a modified example with noticeable changes to its exterior and interior. It features a lift kit, off-road wheels, reinforced bumpers, and additional lighting. Inside, there is a combination of leather upholstery with contrasting stitching and custom trim elements.

Despite its age, the TRX remains exceptionally powerful, equipped with a supercharged V8 engine that, in its current version, produces up to 777 horsepower. This makes it one of the fastest production pickup trucks available and a direct competitor to the Ford F-150 Raptor R.

However, the key question is whether such a price is justified. Typically, the arrival of a new generation reduces the value of the previous one, but the niche and high-performance segment operates differently. Limited editions, tuning, and rare configurations can, conversely, increase a vehicle's worth. In practice, this means a buyer must decide between a new vehicle with a warranty or paying a premium for a modified, yet used, example.

Deals like this are more the exception than the rule. Overpaying for modifications is rarely worthwhile, especially when a newer and more powerful vehicle is available for less money.
