Chinese brand Leapmotor has introduced a new hybrid version of its B10 crossover to the UK market. This range-extender model complements the fully electric version that was launched earlier.

Availability and Hybrid System Design

The Hybrid EV version has now received official pricing and specifications for the UK. Unlike conventional hybrids, the petrol engine in this setup does not directly drive the wheels. Instead, the 1.5-litre motor acts solely as a generator to charge the battery. This configuration maintains the benefits of an electric vehicle while addressing the key drawback of limited range.

Performance and Range

An 18.8 kWh battery provides up to 80 km of electric range according to the European WLTP cycle. When needed, the car can be fast-charged, replenishing the battery from 30% to 80% in approximately 20 minutes. A 218 hp electric motor powers the rear wheels, and with emissions of just 21 g/km, the model stands out as one of the most environmentally friendly in its class.

Features and UK Pricing

Leapmotor offers the model in a single trim level starting at £31,495. This price point is comparable to the fully electric B10 version. Standard equipment includes a panoramic roof, leather interior, a 12-speaker audio system, a large central screen, and a comprehensive suite of safety features. Some functions can be controlled via a mobile app.

Market Position and Future Plans

The B10 Hybrid EV is the brand's second range-extender model, following the larger C10. This format is gaining traction as a practical compromise between a pure electric vehicle and a conventional car. Sales in the UK are set to begin in the summer of 2026. Overall, Leapmotor is focusing on hybrid solutions to establish a stronger foothold in the European market more quickly.
