KGM SE-10 (Rexton Successor) 2027: Chery Partnership, Engines and Launch Timing

KG Mobility and Chery are continuing joint development of a new midsize SUV codenamed the SE-10.

KGM officially ties the project to the Rexton's legacy, with the model's launch planned for early 2027. The car is set to offer a 2.0-liter gasoline engine and a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The project builds on a 2024 platform cooperation agreement and a joint development deal for large SUVs signed in April 2025. In August 2026, Chery agreed to invest $75 million in KGM through convertible bonds. If the bonds are fully converted, the Chinese company's stake could reach roughly 10%.

KGM is responsible for product concept, design and tuning, while Chery supplies platform and electrified powertrain technology. The companies have also agreed to develop a second joint model for the South Korean, Chinese and European markets.

Motor.es suggests the SE-10 may be related to the Chery Tiggo family, though KGM hasn't named a specific donor model. The name, dimensions and hybrid system specs of the SE-10 haven't been disclosed yet.
