China’s BYD has officially confirmed that the Yangwang U9 Xtreme hypercar is headed to Brazil. The country will receive a single example, which will go to racer and entrepreneur Leo Sanchez, BYD representative Li Yunfei said. The company notes that only 30 units have been produced, and interest has been strong enough that BYD recorded more than 20 inquiries from Brazil in just a month. A one-car allocation underscores how scarce this machine is—and how eager the local market has become for headline-grabbing EVs.

The Yangwang U9 Xtreme is the track-focused version of BYD’s flagship electric car developed under the Yangwang sub-brand. It sits on a 1,200-volt platform with e4 all-wheel drive and Yunnian-X active suspension. Four electric motors rated at 555 kW each deliver a combined 2,220 kW (around 3,000 hp), which works out to 1,217 hp per tonne. On paper, those numbers place it firmly among the most extreme circuit-focused machines.

According to the manufacturer, the U9X prototype reached a record speed of 496.22 km/h, and at the Nürburgring it posted a 6:59.157 lap—becoming the first production EV to complete the course in under seven minutes. Claims like this continue to redraw the boundaries for electric performance.

The car is equipped with titanium carbon-ceramic brakes, a new cooling system, and GitiSport e·Gtr2 Pro track tires. Every component is aimed squarely at maximum efficiency on a racing circuit—the intent is clear before you even look at the stopwatch.
