Geely’s new Boyue L i-HEV bowed at Chengdu with a 230 kW electric drive, H5 lidar-based driver assist, and dimensions that edge past Russia’s Atlas.

Geely’s new Boyue L i-HEV, unveiled on August 21 at the Chengdu auto show where SPEEDME journalists are covering the event, produces 230 kW — roughly 313 hp — from its electric drive alone. This isn’t a plug-in hybrid: it’s a conventional full hybrid that never needs to be plugged in. The headline change for the fourth-generation Boyue L is the new i-HEV powertrain built around a 1.5-liter turbo engine. Yiche’s report from the reveal

Geely claims up to 48.4% thermal efficiency for the hybrid engine, with the electric drive’s peak output reaching 230 kW. The company first disclosed the technology back in spring: it runs on an “electric drive first, engine assists” principle, with AI Cloud Power algorithms managing the energy flow. Before the Boyue L, the system had already been detailed on other models — including in our piece on the first-generation Geely i-HEV.

The crossover measures 4,730x1,910x1,710 mm, with a 2,785 mm wheelbase. The cabin gets Flyme Auto, a 15.4-inch 2.5K display, a 7nm Dragon Eagle 1 chip, 16+128 GB of memory, and a 25.6-inch AR-HUD. On the regular fourth-generation Boyue L’s official page, Geely also confirms the CMA platform, Flyme Auto, and the same cabin architecture.

One standout difference for the hybrid is a more advanced H5 driver-assistance suite with a roof-mounted lidar, which Geely announced ahead of the show. The Boyue L already on sale uses H3, with three millimeter-wave radars, 11 cameras, and a 128-TOPS chip. You can see that earlier stage of the model’s development in our breakdown of the Boyue L with the H3 system.

That said, it’s too early to automatically read the newcomer as a future Russian-market Atlas. The current Atlas sold in Russia measures 4,670x1,900x1,705 mm with a 2,777 mm wheelbase — meaning the new-generation Chinese Boyue L is 60 mm longer, with a wheelbase 8 mm greater. There’s been no official word yet on Boyue L i-HEV shipments to Russia.

Geely also hasn’t revealed pricing for the hybrid version or its full spec sheet yet — including the Boyue L’s final combined output and certified fuel consumption. That’s why the 313 hp figure refers specifically to the electric drive, not the combined output of the whole hybrid system.
