Mercedes to end EQE sedan and SUV in 2026 as C‑Class EQ and GLC EQ step in
Mercedes‑Benz plans to end production of the EQE sedan and EQE SUV in 2026. The pair arrived only three years ago, yet the German brand is already reshaping its electric lineup. Their successors, the C‑Class EQ and GLC EQ, will be built on the modern MB.EA‑M platform featuring an 800‑volt architecture.
Both newcomers are set to be more practical in daily use: for example, the GLC EQ is expected to offer a 570‑liter cargo area plus an extra compartment up front. A broader tech package is also on the cards, including air suspension and rear‑axle steering.
Mercedes had planned to refresh the EQE with updated electric motors, silicon inverters, and new batteries, but those improvements will be reserved for the larger EQS. In 2027, the company intends to introduce the E‑Class EQ, which will take over the EQE’s role in the range.
The EQE was always something of an interim step, while the upcoming C‑Class EQ and GLC EQ promise to be more attainable and more advanced. The strategy effectively clears the path for stronger nameplates, maintaining a careful balance between premium positioning and broader appeal.
