BMW M2 G87 Track Package spied with race-grade aero

BMW is preparing a special Track Package for the M2 coupe of the G87 generation, engineered with the circuit in mind. It remains street-legal, yet arrives with serious upgrades—from a giant rear wing to front canards typically seen only on race cars. That kind of aero leaves little doubt about the mission.

The prototype was spotted testing at the Nürburgring, where BMW is pushing to trim lap times. Judging by the footage, the car looks lighter and more agile than the standard version, likely thanks to new suspension tuning and body revisions. The hood, fenders, and bumpers are hidden under camouflage, hinting at possible carbon fiber and reworked aerodynamics.

The package is expected to be offered for both the standard M2 and the more powerful M2 CS. BMW will most likely keep a choice of transmissions—a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic—though the automatic is the one that delivers the highest speed on track.

With this package, the M2 fits neatly into the M division’s strategy: turn a compact coupe into a genuine track-day tool without stripping away everyday usefulness. And in 2026 the lineup will grow with an M2 xDrive version, while the rear-drive manual will remain in the mix.
