Porsche lands top reliability marks in Consumer Reports 2025

Porsche has reaffirmed its reputation not just for prestige but for dependability as well. In Consumer Reports’ 2025 rankings, the German automaker placed among the top four brands for overall reliability. Every model evaluated—the Macan, Cayenne, 718 Boxster, and Taycan—earned a Recommended rating, an uncommon sweep even in the premium tier. It’s the kind of clean sheet that suggests the brand’s engineering discipline runs across the lineup.

The strongest showing came from the compact Macan, which ranked fifth among 22 vehicles in its class and emerged as the most reliable German entry in the segment. The Cayenne followed close behind, landing seventh among midsize SUVs. Consumer Reports projects reliability for both models to be average or above, despite a recall tied to a fuel leak.

Among sports cars and EVs, the 718 Boxster, Cayman, and Taycan also posted average predicted reliability. In direct comparisons, the Taycan came out ahead of the Tesla Model 3 and Mercedes EQE, but fell behind the BMW i4 and Lexus ES.

Consumer Reports did flag a downside: Porsche ranked second from the bottom for service and repair costs. Owners do pay for the privilege, yet the cars themselves continue to show that the brand’s celebrated engineering still delivers on reliability.
