2027 Ram 2500 Power Wagon adds 6.7L Cummins diesel and nearly 9,000 kg towing

Ram finally did what Power Wagon faithful had been asking for: it added a diesel to one of the brand’s most recognizable off-road heavy-duty pickups. For 2027, the Power Wagon gets a 6.7-liter inline Cummins turbodiesel rated at 430 hp and 1,456 Nm of torque. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic, and four-wheel drive is standard.

Why does it matter? Until now, buyers had to make do with a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 with 405 hp. It’s adequate, but the Power Wagon’s towing capability was capped at 4,800 kg. The diesel version pushes that figure to nearly 9,000 kg, effectively moving the truck into a different league of real-world pulling power while keeping its off-road ethos intact. It’s the spec that finally matches the nameplate’s swagger.

Otherwise, this is classic Power Wagon: a Crew Cab with a 193 cm bed, black bumpers, fender flares, 20-inch wheels and 34-inch A/T tires, signature graphics and Cummins badging. The hardware list includes heavy-duty axles, rock rails, underbody protection, front and rear electronic locking differentials, Bilstein-equipped suspension, and an electronically disconnecting sway bar, plus 320 mm of ground clearance and 26.1/26.0/20.6-degree approach/departure/breakover angles. No gimmicks here—just the right parts.

Inside, the base truck skips the frills: a heated cloth bench, six speakers, a trailer brake controller, and the 12-inch Uconnect 5. Options bring ventilated leather, a sunroof, a 14.5-inch display, dual wireless charging, and 9- or 17-speaker audio. You can keep it work-first or dress it for long-haul comfort.
