Ford recalls 279 E-Transit electric vans for driveline fault, parking brake risk
Ford has announced another recall of the E-Transit electric van. A manufacturing error could affect the driveline and the parking brake, increasing the risk of an accident.
What the E-Transit defect involves
According to the recall notice, the left rear drive unit on some vans may have been fitted incorrectly at the factory. That could cause a loss of propulsion while on the move, or allow the vehicle to roll in Park if the parking brake is not engaged.
Which vehicles are affected
The recall covers 279 Ford E-Transit electric vans built from 2021 to 2025. Owners will be notified directly and asked to visit dealers for a free repair. The manufacturer notes all work will be carried out at the company’s expense.
Context and what it means for Ford
This isn’t the first E-Transit recall in recent months. In October 2025, the model was recalled over potential issues with the 12-volt battery, and earlier the electric van was included in a wider campaign related to a faulty rear-view camera.
In 2025, Ford led Australia’s recall tally. This latest action is a reminder that even commercial EVs on proven architectures can be tripped up by production slip-ups. For E-Transit owners, a prompt service visit is the sensible move to remove any safety doubt.
