MG Majestor: new flagship SUV launching in India in 2026

MG is preparing to launch its new flagship SUV, the Majestor, in India. Positioned above the Gloster, the vehicle is set to debut on February 12, 2026, and has already been spotted multiple times on roads wearing camouflage.

Design and Positioning

The Majestor draws direct inspiration from the Chinese Maxus D90, inheriting its large radiator grille, vertical LED headlights, and robust, off-road-styled appearance. A wide bumper with black cladding and silver accents emphasizes the model's functional character.

Massive plastic cladding continues around the body, while the wheel arches feature two-tone 19-inch alloy wheels that are visually similar to those on the Gloster. At the rear, there's full-width LED lighting, a black bumper, and decorative exhaust tips.

This model will be positioned above the Gloster, creating a new top tier for MG's lineup in India.

Interior and Features

The interior hasn't been officially revealed, but spy shots confirm its resemblance to the Maxus D90. Expectations include a large "floating" 12.3-inch infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster of the same size, and a new three-spoke steering wheel with paddle shifters for drive modes.

As the flagship, the Majestor is expected to surpass the Gloster in terms of equipment. The Gloster already offers features like a panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control, wireless charging, a premium audio system, power-adjustable seats, and a massage function for the driver's seat. The Majestor will likely add an expanded set of comfort and driver-assistance systems.

Performance and Competition

Under the hood, the Majestor is anticipated to use the familiar 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel engine from the Gloster, producing 216 horsepower and 479 Nm of torque. This engine pairs with an 8-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system. In the Chinese Maxus D90, this engine delivers up to 500 Nm, so an enhanced version for the Majestor remains a possibility.

In terms of pricing, the Majestor will be positioned above the Gloster, which currently ranges from $42,300 to $46,900. Key competitors include the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, and Skoda Kodiaq.
