Volvo ES90 electric sedan enters mass production with 800V tech and 700 km range
Volvo has officially started mass production of the new ES90 electric sedan. The model debuted in spring 2025 and becomes the brand’s first car built on an 800-volt platform. This setup delivers up to 700 km of range and record charging speeds for Volvo: at a 350 kW station, the battery can add up to 300 km in just 10 minutes.
According to SPEEDME.RU, orders are already open in Europe, with first customer cars due at the end of 2025. In South Africa, the model is scheduled for early 2026, joining the EX30 and EX90 electric crossovers.
The ES90 lineup comprises three versions: the entry Single Motor with 245 kW and a 92 kWh battery, the Twin Motor with 330 kW, and the range-topping Twin Motor Performance rated at 500 kW with a 102 kWh pack. The latter accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4 seconds.
As with other new Volvo models, the ES90 integrates the latest safety systems within the Superset tech stack and supports over-the-air updates. The design underscores its premium intent and targets the strongest electric sedans of 2025.
All told, the ES90’s rollout marks an important step for Volvo, signaling that the brand is ready to compete not only on comfort and safety, but also on charging speed and technological sophistication.
